As you may have guessed, I’m an avid trail runner – but I also wear a few other hats. I’m the president of a local multi-sport club, the Cyclonauts, and a group run leader with the Wayniac Running Club.
This is an incredibly fun and welcoming community, full of great people who genuinely enjoy spending time outdoors together. Many of my friends who regularly run with the group step up to help organize and lead events when schedules conflict, which means there’s almost always something happening on the weekends. At the end of the day, our goal is simple: enjoy the outdoors with friends, share some laughs, take in the scenery, and introduce more people to the amazing trail networks (and fun roads) here in Western Massachusetts.
If you’re wondering about pace, it varies quite a bit depending on distance, terrain, and group size. Most of our road long runs fall roughly between 9:00 and 10:30 per mile. On trails, we’re typically in the 11:00 – 14:00 range. For example, our usual Sunday trail run covers about 6.5 miles in Robinson State Park, with roughly 650 feet of elevation gain, and takes the group around 80 minutes to complete.
